House main breaker keeps tripping

f the house's main breaker tripped two or more times over the past couple of months you may have a problem.

When did it happen? During the peak load hours? Summer peak load occurs on hot afternoons when air conditioner, cloth dryer and/or stove are running simultaneously. And peak loads also happen in homes with electric heating system or when using several portable heaters during the coldest windy days in winter. If that is the case you need to reduce the loads. Do not run several appliances, A/C, stoves, dryers and heaters at the same time. If there is more than one electric range and/or dryer in the house, upgrade the panel from 100 Amp to 200 Amp or to 400 Amp and forget about losing power forever. A homeowner has another and bigger problem when the main switch becomes faulty and the annoying nuisance tripping begins. If the 100 Amp main is going bad, weak and tripping at 80 Amp or 90 Amp, it needs to be replaced. Another less probable faults could be caused by corrosion, oxidation, poor contact, loose screws, burning, etc. inside or at the main circuit switch. You need to call a licensed electrician to deal with the main breaker failures. There are just a few PROs out there that are more experienced, fast and affordable than you can get after dialing the number below!
